Markham - Rouge NUP: Bob Hunter Memorial Park, Mod-Fast, Sheila King

Members, guests and non-members welcome. Pre-registration is mandatory. Non-members are asked to contact the hike leader by noon the day prior to determine if hike is suitable for them. 

~10k; 2.5hrs; Moderate to fast pace on easy terrain with a few gentle elevation changes. 15 hikers maximum.

Situated within Rouge National Urban Park, Bob Hunter Memorial Park was opened in August 2006 and named in honour of Robert Hunter, writer and journalist, environmentalist, and a founding member of Greenpeace.  

Our loop hike will take us through a lovely mix of meadows and grasslands, mature forest, and river habitats. Expect a mix of natural and paved/gravel trails with one very short section of road.

Check the weather the morning of and dress accordingly. Bring ample fluids for hydration. We will make brief stops along the route.  Be tick (and mosquito) aware. Bug spray and sunscreen are highly recommended. Poles are optional. No dogs please. 

Please meet in the free parking lot by 08h45 for a prompt 09h00 start. 

Portable toilets on-site. 

Meeting Point:  7277-14 Ave. Take Reesor Rd (south from hwy #7 or north from Steeles Ave), west on 14 Ave, south at 1st driveway with house numbers (this is the entrance to the Rouge National Urban Park. A large sign is posted at the entrance.
