Oak Ridges Moraine Trail - End-to-End Series #17 (OPTIONAL)

RAIN DATE - Only in the event of heavy rain, the hike and visit to the Warkworth Lilac Festival may be postponed to Sunday, May 31st.

Our E2E began at the beginning of February and is expected to finish at the end of May.  We started from Hollidge Tract in York Regional Forest  and trekked east for a series of 12 consecutive hikes, every Monday, until we reached the kiosk marking the Castleton terminus of the Oak Ridges Moraine, and our first major milestone.  We have since continued eastward after restarting from the western terminus in Caledon until we reach our final destination at Hollidge Tract.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This hike is available for up to 6 participants who have either achieved, or are actively hiking toward, their ORTA E2E badge and would like to add the Warkworth  Terminus as their first or second eastern terminus to their achievements AND are also interested in attending the Warkworth Lilac Festival after the hike.  https://warkworthlilacfestival.ca/

ORTA MAP 12:  ~4hrs / ~13.5k.  Our trek will start from the junction of Morgenston Road and Dawson Rd in the Township of Cramahe. The entirety of this hike will be on secondary roads that traverse north east through the Trent Hills and into the very pretty town of Warkworth. Expect some moderate hills.

Check the weather the morning of and dress accordingly. Bring plenty of water, and snacks. We will make brief stops along the route but no lunch stop is planned for during the hike.  Bug spray and sunscreen are highly recommended. Poles are optional. No dogs or drop-outs.

Wet conditions before or on the day can make for muddy conditions on the Millenium (Lilac Trail). Rain boots may be helpful for this section in particular.

Warkworth has limited places to eat and available options may be very busy.  You may want to bring yourself a lunch just in case for after the hike and before we check out the lilacs and visit the town itself.

This is a shuttle hike and will require volunteers for driving to the starting point.

Please meet by 08h45 to prepare for our shuttle(s) to the starting point.

Meeting Point: GPS 44.19978,-77.8829 - 83 Main Street, Warkworth. If  parking is unavailable in the Warkworth parking lot because of the Lilac Festival, free nearby street parking will be available instead at this early hour.
