Oak Ridges Moraine Trail - End-to-End Series #7
This E2E started in mid-winter and began a bit closer to home due to the potential for difficult winter travel. We are continuing to hike our way eastward every Monday, excepting holidays and the unforeseen, until we reach both eastern terminus’; Castleton, then Warkworth. After that we will restart from the western terminus in Caledon trekking east again until we reach the end of our journey and where it began in Hollidge Tract.
ORTA MAP 8: 3.5-4hrs / ~12k+. Our hike starts from Darlington-Manvers Townline and 10th Concession. This leg will begin by taking us south for approximately 4km on a mix of unplowed road allowance, plowed country road, and snowmobile trails before turning east through small valleys: some are woods and some are open. Expect some more road walking on the easterly portion as we approach the final north-bound trail to our destination.
Check the weather the morning of and dress accordingly. Icers are essential and snowshoes are still highly recommended. In case of very wet weather and/or trail conditions, expected or not, a change of dry socks, boots, and clothing for after the hike is also recommended. Bring plenty of water and snacks. Poles are optional. No dogs or drop-outs.
This is a shuttle hike and will require volunteers for driving to the starting point. Parking is free at both the meeting/trail end, and trail head.
Please meet by 08h45 to prepare for our shuttle(s) to the starting point.
