Members and non-members welcome.
ORTA Map 9; between 11-13 km; 3-4 hour hike (plus 40 minutes for shuttles). We’ll hike a linear route along both the Oak Ridges and Ganaraska Hiking Trails through the Ganaraska Forest. After parking, we’ll shuttle to our start point. Most of the route will be in the forest. Expect some hills and sandy trails. We’ll hike at a slow-moderate pace so we can enjoy each other’s and nature’s company.
What to bring: water and lunch/snacks; sturdy footwear required; practice tick prevention; consider bringing anything that helps you appreciate nature (eg. binoculars, field guides/apps, etc.); a Ganaraska Forest day pass ($7) or annual pass ($32) is required to hike in the forest, which can be purchased on their website. Special note: The Ganaraska Trail folks have informed me that there’s a 1.5km stretch of their trail through the forest that might be a bit rugged/challenging. Contact hike leader before signing up if you have any concerns about your abilities. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Location/Parking: Roadside parking on north side of 10th Line before the curve onto Walker Rd.
