This hike takes us along Beatty Lane into the small hamlet of Bewdley on Rice Lake.  Bewdley was first called “Black’s Landing” after William Black who built a tavern here in 1830.  It became a stop on the road from Port Hope to Peterborough Road and the Rice Lake Ferry.  By 1860 this town was a going concern with  a steam sawmill, shingle mill, blacksmith and three inns.  Following the lake we travel southbound along Cavan Road and then south along Gibbs Road.

Preparing for the Hike: Dress in layers, wear comfortable footwear, water and snacks.

Roadside Parking: Gibbs Rd and Donaldson Road West
