Hike open to Members and Non-members.
ORTA Map 10: Option one: 2 km. Option two: 5+ km;
Join us for this special Earth Day hike and event. We’ll be joined by Matt from the Northumberland Forest, who will give us a 10-15 minute talk about the ecological restoration project he’s been involved with as part of his work, restoring a sand barren ecosystem within the Northumberland Forest property. After the talk, there will be a chance to explore the restoration site, ask questions, and we’ll finish off by spreading native plant seeds on the site. If you are only interested in walking to and from the talk, the hike will be about 2km. For those who want to extend the hike after the talk, we will walk along the ORTA trail for a total of 5+ km. Maximum 10 hikers.
Bring water and a snack. Sturdy footwear required. Practice tick prevention. If you are interested in carpooling to the event, please call/text the hike leader, who will coordinate with others on your behalf (at least 3 days in advance). No dogs allowed.
You will be required to sign a second waiver for the Northumberland County Forest at the beginning of the hike.
