This hike is for anyone who wants to learn basic tree identification skills! Target audience is tree ID beginners, but those who want to brush up on their ID skills are encouraged, as well. We’ll walk along the Northumberland Forest’s Carstairs Trail, making frequent stops to learn how to ID some common trees you’ll see along the moraine (and beyond). This hike is also ideal for anyone wanting a more easygoing hike, with the occasional stops for nature appreciation. Dogs are welcome, Maximum of 15 hikers and open to non-members.

Bring icers / ice spikes for your boots in case of icy trail conditions. Dress weather appropriate (remember we will stop frequently, so layer up if it’s a cold day). Bring water and a snack.

Meet up by 9:50 am for a 10:00 am start.

Parking: Carstairs Tract parking lot on Bowmanton Rd. (see coordinates)
